Willows are one of the most versatile, fast growing and useful of woody plants ranging from plants a few inches high, to shrubs, to trees of 25 metres in height.

Willows need no fertiliser input. They build fertility in poor and depleted soil and are of great value to wildlife, particularly birds and insects. They respond well to regular cropping, providing a sustainable source of material for a wide variety of uses. Apart from their use for crafts their environmental benefits include their use as windbreaks for soil stabilisation, biological filtration and to combat both river and coastal erosion.

Willow is of enormous benefit to rural economies due to its fast growth and replenishment, ease of harvesting, low wastage and many uses,providing a valuable source of seasonal income for the weavers.

The coffins are suitable for burial or cremation and are fitted with either wooden runners on the underside, or a plywood base (customer's choice). Each coffin is lined with environmentally friendly biodegradable leak resistant sheeting. An additional cardboard barrier lining protects this sheeting against puncturing by the willow. The coffin is then fitted with an unbleached calico lining,shroud and fitted pillow. All this is included in the price.
